Popular Flower - _TNY_3688

The woolly burdock (Arctium tomentosum) is a really pretty flower, once you get close in. The pink/magenta/blue can be quite intense. Judging by how reluctant to leave them the various bugs I find on them are, I'd say it is also very tasty.

This female goldenrod crab spider (Misumena vatia) is of course not interested in tasting the burdock - but being an ambush predator, picking one of these to sit and wait for lunch to come flying seems like a proper good idea.

Shot using the Canon MP-E65mm lens at 1.5:1 magnification.
