As I was sneaking up on this female (teneral) variable bluet (Coenagrion pulchellum) I only managed one or two shots before discovering that the batteries in the flash head was out of charge.
Fortunately, a convenience store carrying fresh (but expensive) batteries was just a fifteen minute walk away so I was back to stalking insects in half an hour - but the bluet was (unsurprisingly) not still there.
