Bloodshot Eyes - _TNY_3505S3

The green eyes on this male black-tailed skimmer (Orthetrum cancellatum) have an interesting red shimmer to them which makes me think of them beeing bloodshot. No real idea if this is typical or just this one.

 

Either way, this guy chose to sit still for long enough (after a gazillion attempts) to get three shots which I subsequently focus stacked into a single image.
