First Date - _TNY_4666

While sneaking around near the water at the Hemmesta sjöäng wetland in Värmdö, Sweden, this couple landed pretty close to me.

Engaging my best ninja sneak mode, I aproached slowly and managed a couple of shots of them which I must say, turned out pretty nice - do zoom in on the eyes of either one of these two.

It's a mating pair of common spreadwings (Lestes sponsa), so named because unlike most other damselflies, they typically don't fold their wings straight back over their abdomen, bit rather keep them at about a 45 degree angle.

Just to not prove my point, of course both of them have their wings folded the traditional damsel way in this shot. Not sure if it's a mating thing or what.
