The 6.3 mm Drill - _TNY_2992
This tiny moth is a drill. I've managed to narrow it down to one out of three species: either a lead-coloured drill (Dichrorampha plumbana, a sharp-winged drill (D. acuminatana) or a gold-fringed drill (D. vancouverana) also known as the tanacetum root moth. If you can narrow it down further, I would very much appreciate the help.
This was taken using the MP-E65mm which has the rare feature of saving the used magnification deep down in the EXIF info. This can be extracted (using EXIF Tool) and with knowing this was taken at 3.7:1 magnification, I can actually measure inside the image and calculate the length of the moth to be 6.3 mm (.25") from nose to tip.
