My wife is changing careers at the moment and studying to becom e a registered nurse. Obviously this is being done from home these days, but it offers the possibility to go for a short walk around the neigbourhood after lunch when I stumbled on this neat little bee.
Most likely this is a male common mini-mining bee (Andrena minitula), one of the small species in the Micrandrena sub-genus.
Apparently the first generation males of the season of this species have darker facial hair than the other Micrandrena species (and of the same species born later in the season)
