The Smallest Large - _TNY_7278

This butterfly which is displaying a very long proboscis while drinking from a thistle is a large skipper (Ochlodes sylvanus).

The large part is just when compared to other skippers though. The wingspan of these is just 26-34 millimeters.

I quite enjoy the look of skippers. They really look quite special with the way they hold their wings in a triangle like this when resting.
