Chocolate - _TNY_7409

Right next to the waterline of lake Kvarnsjön in the Lännaskogen Nature Reserve I cam across this female mottled grasshopper (Myrmeleotettix maculatus) which is actually the first of its species that I have photographed.

The males have a completely different colour scheme plus that the antennae end in smalll clubs, something the females find very exciting as walking around the females while waving those clubs is part of the males' courtship behaviour.

I think this dark brown colour scheme is just gorgeous - it looks like it is made out of chocolate!
