I've noticed several times when I've seen flies mating that the male tries to cover the eyes of the female with his feet (hands?). This has hapened too often to be a total coincidence, but I haven't been able to figure out why? A way to distract her so she doesn't stop mid-coitus? Some weird fetish? You tell me.
These two are what I believe to be a pair of kite-tailed robber flies (Tolmerus atricapillus).
