Celebrating Midsummer's Eve out by lake Långsjön int he Paradiset nature reserve, I discovered this click beetle which should be a Sericus brunneus or possibly a S. sulcipennis).
I had the MP-E65mm on the camera at the moment and managed this at 3:1 magnification before the click beetle did as click beetles do and clicked it's body and thereby sending it out of sight. It's typically a defensive move to get out of harms way, but I wasn't really disturbing it so I am not sure what caused that.
Either way, the maroon colour coupled with the fine pitting looks really cool IMHO
