Hiding in the Middle - _TNY_8278
This somewhat peculiar-looking spider with a hump on its back is a Cyclosa conica orb weaver, a species that prefer forests over clearings and other open spaces.
Apart from its looks - it also has a cool twist on how to hide while still being in your web. This as they create a stabilimentum down the middle of the web out of strands of silk and then proceed to cover it with remains of dead insects and then hide amongst those and creating a very un-spider-like sillhouette to avoid being attacked by predators.
Also, when an insect hits the web, most orb weavers proceed to shake the web to make sure it is thoroughly stuck before moving closer, but C. conica don't believe in waiting and instead immediately rush towards it.
