Powerful Predator - _TNY_6527
This is one of the largest flies in Sweden. A Laphria flava robberfly which is quite the powerful flier and catches its prey by intercepting it mid-air and then punching a hole in its exoskeleton and inject it's venom which then dissolves the insides of the victim befor the robberfly (also known as assassin fly) can enjoy its bug smoothie.
This species can reach almost 30 mm in body length and I couldn't believe my luck when it stayed on the ground as I snuck closer and closer. This was taken using the Canon MP-E65mm lens at 1.2:1 magnification, but there will be even closer shots following later.
