Green Teenager - _TNY_7599

Shieldbugs don't go from larvae to adult form like many othher insects. Instead they have several instar stages where they change both in size (obviously) but also appearance.

 

This beautifully green one from the Lännaskogen nature reserve is the fifth and final instar stage of the green shield bug (Palomena prasina). After the next moult it will take it's final form as adult.
