The Virtue of Patience - _TNY_5250S2 (2.4x)
I saw this female zebra spider (Salticus scenicus) on the side of a neighbour's house sitting near the top edge of a white brick, looking down at the fly at the lower end of the same brick.
I was on my wat to shop for groceries so I didn't have a camera with me, but I took out my phone to hopefully film the pounce.
The spider was very patient though so after like three minutes of filming a spider stationary watching a fly I gave up and went to the store.
When I came back 25 minutes later they were still there - but the spider had advanced a couple of centimeters while the fly hadn't moved at all. I figured the attack was imminent and began filming again, but gave up after another minute of nothing happening.
Five minutes after going inside to unpack, my neighbor rang on the door to report that the spider had caught the fly if I wanted to take a photo.
So I did.
I took several actually, so this is two exposures stacked together for a little extra depth of field.
