Bald Spot - _TNY_2232

The way the hair on the thorax of this dark-green fritillary (Argynnis_aglaja) is worn to the point of it being bald suggests it was quite old when I saw it.

 

Perhaps that's why it was so docile and didn't flutter away when I closed in to take a photo.
