Caught in the Act - _TNY_1174

I managed to sneak up on this naughty robber fly couple busy doing the naughty back in August of 2019.

 

I say it looks pretty handy to be able to contort your abdomen that way.

I am now pretty confident that these two are a pair of kite-tailed robberflies (Tolmerus atricapillus).
