A male Xanthandrus comtus hoverfly which has landed on a flower on the great burnet (Sanguisorba officinalis).
This quite longwinged hoverfly is a species I hadn't noticed before 2019, but that summer I found quite a lot of them and they do well in photos with that lovely bronze thorax, wouldn't you say?
