Girl on the Run - _TNY_0800

Most macro shots are taken of stationary subjects. But then there are some who simply refuse to stay still and you turn into a miniature sports photographer, crawling on your hands and knees with camera, flash and diffuser in front of your face trying to nail the focus on the right few millimeters of a moving subject.

This was one such subject. She's a female red-brown longhorn beetle (Stictoleptura rubra) who just kept going along a log on the obstacle course at Siggesta Gård in Värmdö in Stockholm's inner archipelago. (Yes, I bring my macro gear to obstacle courses - doesn't everyone?).

In her defence, she was probably trying to lose the two (smaller) males that were agressively trying to court her and unfortunately for me, the only good shot was this one when she was walking across a white sign which ws nailed to the log, making the background a little more boring. Beautiful specimen though.
