Becoming Purple - _TNY_6764

The purple angelica (Angelica gigas) is also called the Korean angelica and dangquai.

 

As the "gigas" in the scientific name indicates, the flower can grow really tall - up to two meters.

 

The purple infloresence on these is also very large and when open (like in the background here) they attract *lots* of insects, especially wasps.
