Bearded Fly - _TNY_1606
Some sort of Lucilia blowfly on a leaf showing a nice and detailed pair of compound eyes - plus a little beard!
The name blow fly actually comes from a older English term for meat that has fly eggs laid in it - the meat is "fly blown". In Swedish, a blow fly is known as a "spyfluga" - a vomit fly - as the adult flies' mouth parts are designed to suck up liquid food. This means that they can eject (ie vomiting) digestive fluid onto the food and then suck it up again when it has dissolved the food.
