Eyes of Glass - _TNY_9182
This is a male European wool carder bee (Anthidium manicatum) on a pink house leek (Sempervivum tectorum).
These guys have such beautifully spotted eyes and from this angle it looks like the pattern is flat at the bottom of the eye and that there then is a thick clear lens covering it. Not really sure that is how they work,or if it is an optical illusion, but it still looks bloody cool.
