Maiden, Champion and Challenger - _TNY_8238
A male timberman beetle (Acanthocinus aedilis) standing over a female which was in the process of laying what I assume were his eggs while another male was challenging the first one to a fight.
The newcomer lost however and was rather quickly chased away though the fighting looked quite spectacular with those incredibly long antennae flailing.
As the he was leaving the scene of his defeat I picked him up and snapped a shot of him on my finger as can be seen here: www.flickr.com/photos/tinyturtle/47953563162/
