The Greek General - _TNY_1441

This narrow-waisted beauty is a kind of potter wasp, namely a Eumenes coronatus.

 

The genus was named after the skilled Greek general Eumenes of Cardia who lived between 362 and 316 BC. No idea what prompted that name for the wasp genus though.

 

Unfortunately this one was a bit nervous and left before I could get any closer.
