Fan of Meadowsweet - _TNY_0990
A first for me from the summer of 2019 - a lesser marbled fritillary (Brenthis ino).
The larvae feed primarily on meadowsweet (Filipendula ulmaria) but a few other species as well, sometimes including the great burnet (both of which can be found in this particular garden.
I took this using the Canon MP-E65mm lens, a lens intended for shooting much smaller things than an entire butterfly and since the working distance is so close you very rarely get close enough to a butterfly to get it in focus with it - but here it actually worked!
