One Out of Three - _TNY_1244
With some species, it really isn't possible to narrow it down to a single species based just on photos and if you're not prepared to catch it and throw it under a microscope to look at its genitalia (hint: I'm not) you will have to settle for a less exact description. This one with pretty compound eyes on a dark pink variety of great masterwort (Astrantia major) is one like that and is either a blotch-winged dronefly (Eristalis rupium), a dusky dronefly (E. obscura - aka pseudorupium) or a spring dronefly (E. picea).
