Emerald Covered in Diamonds - _TNY_0738
This little jewel is a male common spreadwing (Lestes sponsa), also known as the emerald damselfly.
It doesn't show very well in this particular shot, but these guys - and the rest in the Lestidae family have the habit of resting with their wings half open, unlike most other damselflies and is the reason for the vernacular name.
The reason it has got tiny water drops all over it is because this shot was taken early in the morning at the Hemmesta sjöäng wetland where it had been sleeping and was covered in dew drops.
I stopped there on my way home from work at around half past six in the morning (yes, I work nights) and managed some nice shots before they woke up completely.
