Antenna Head - _TNY_8243
This longhorn beetle with the amazing antennae is a male timberman beetle (Acanthocinus aedilis).
I was walking around lake Stensjön (Rock lake) in Tyresta National Park and noticed something moving on a fallen pine branch. It turned out to be a pair of timberman beetles, a female laying eggs and a male sideways on top of her guarding her against other males.
Thenb this male came walking, spotted them and moved in which turned into the two males fighting briefly befor this guy was chased away so I picked him up and let him pose on my hand for a bit before letting him go.
I haven't got a clue how these guys manage to navigate through the undergrowth with antennae four and a half times longer than their body. The female also has long ones, but only about half the length of the males.
