Rose of the Navvy - _TNY_0943S2

I focus-stacked two exposures into one to get more of this rosebay willowherb (Chamaenerion angustifolium) in focus at the same time. Isn't the colour of it just great?

The Swedish name for this flower is "rallarros" which means rose of the navvy, ie those who used to build railways and canals, due to the fact that the plant really liked to grow along train tracks.

Historically it was believed that this plant made cows produce more milk.

The flowers are typically not seen one by one, but more like in this shot: www.flickr.com/photos/tinyturtle/44771281340/
