The Myathropa florea hoverfly is sometimes referred to as the Batman hoverfly as the markings on the thorax sometimes resembles the bat logo of Batman. More often, the pattern looks more like a skull, which is why it is known as "dödskallefluga" (skull fly) in Swedish.
