Out after sunset near our resort in Bae Sao on Phu Quoc, Vietnam my flashlight hit a small white bundle of silk on a large leaf and I snapped a couple of shots of it at various settings and flash angles and after some processing on the computer it turned out that underneath that (almost completely opaque) silk hid a female Kerengga ant-like jumper (Myrmaplata plataleoides) jumping spider!
This species imitates the Oecophylla smaragdina weaver ant and they also construct these silk hiding places from which they apparently launch attacks on unsuspecting prey.
