Shimmering - _TNY_6264 (In Explore 24/2 2019)

When a (brief) rain finally ended the drought during the hot and dry summer of 2018, the great burnet (Sanguisorba officinalis) became mighty popular with the flies as the shape of the flowers turned them into a multitude of water cups, allowing them to drink - and me to photograph them.

This small visitor with the nicely shimmering wings is a female Sphaerophoria interrupta hoverfly.
