Fuzzy Killer - _TNY_9976 (In Explore 11/7 2017)
I finally found one!
This large robber fly is a Laphria flava and the black and red lunch is one of the click beetles (Ampedus balteatus).
The beetle is about 10 mm in length which illustrates that this is a pretty hefty fly!
I've been looking for one of these guys for quite some time now and was very pleased with not only filnally seeing one and having my camera with me, but also that it had caught some interesting prey.
