Portrait of a Mother - _TNY_5146
This pretty lady is actually quite small and a Philodromus margaritatus, one of the running crab spiders.
This particular one was not doing any running at all when I found her.
I found her on top of her eggs on the side of the summer house, protecting them, and when I returned two weeks later she was still sitting there in the exact same place on top of her eggs.
This shot is actually one of the first successful shots I've taken of living bugs with the MP-E65mm at the maximum 5:1 magnification
Another (wider) shot of this spider: www.flickr.com/photos/tinyturtle/42504462200/
