Handheld Dragon - _TNY_8909
A young female black darter/black meadowhawk (Sympetrum danae) resting comforably in the hand of my seven-year-old son's (yes, he wears nail-polish on occasion) hand.
Originally I couldn't figure out the species as the pterostigmata of S. danae are supposed to be black, but it turns out that young females have lighter ones which darken with age.
