Skull Fly #1 - _TNY_5644

A female Myathropa florea hoverfly on the white variety of great masterwort (Astrantia major). The Swedish name for this fly, "dödskallefluga" literally translates to "skull fly" - a name given because of the markings on the thorax resembling a skull.

The image was quite badly overexposed, but shooting RAW made it somewhat salvageable and I still think the species was interesting enough to keep the shots.
