comparison: 2nd v. 2nd or 3rd?

i thought the girl on the right was a 3rd, but something seemed off. so i did a little research online, and saw they made a bang-ed 2nd gen. all my (2) other 3rd gen, and the ones i've seen, have a slightly "open" mouth and less rounded ears.
