The part of the beach where the contest was happening was pristine - it was like someone came along with a giant sifter and made the sand fluffy, with nary a plant. Walking a bit north on the beach, you can get to a place that has actual dunes, like on Sanibel. I prefer it natural, instead of the barren dessert that's in front of the big hotels.
