Ancient pencil pine trees

These ancient pencil pine trees can live over a thousand years. However recently genetic testing of the trees show many trees have survived even longer than the tree rings suggest. They do this by sending up new suckers forming trees as older tree trunks weather and dieback. This could potentially go on for many thousands of years.
