Havasu Creek _MG_9772_0_1 copy
The American Indians in the area are known as Havasupai (hah-va-soup-eye) and it means "people of the blue waters". The water color really is as depicted in the photo due to the calcium carbonate in the water. Over the years, the calcium carbonate builds up beautiful travertine pools but floods in the past 10 years have washed them away.
