Moss Carpet
The vegetation on bogs (or mosses, as they call them in the northwest) is predominantly Sphagnum moss, with a few other special plants interspersed. You can see a couple of rare bog inhabitants just sprouting eg in the top left quarter. These are Bog Rosemary (Andromeda polifolia), which has a restricted distribution in Britain. This moss, near Haverthwaite in South Cumbria, also had some beautiful pale lichens growing too. I loved the natural patterned carpet of subtle colours.
