Cuckoo
I normally try to avoid wildlife photos cluttered with things like wire, but I keep finding myself returning to this shot, probably because it is a bit unusual. And I think I've worked out why Cuckoos have zygodactylous feet like woodpeckers ( I jest). But it is in a rather woodpecker-like pose on a fencepost with a splayed tail. I don't know why it briefly perched like this. Maybe it was eyeing up the ragwort for Cinnabar moth caterpillars. This was the confiding juvenile Cuckoo that spent a few days recently in Radcliffe, near Elton Reservoir.
