Whinchat

I spent some time photographing Whinchats in the Peak District today. There was at least one recently fledged juvenile with both parents in attendance. This is the adult male which I liked because he has spread his tail revealing the diagnostic white bases to the outer tail feathers. I find Whinchats increasingly difficult to find as they have suffered a 57% population decline since 1995, and a 48% range contraction.
