Why I don't do pub quizzes

A few years ago I was persuaded to join a pub quiz team and one question was asked "To what family of birds does the Yellowhammer belong?" I had two answers, both correct; The Bunting family or the technical term Emberizidae. I opted for Bunting as being the most likely answer on the card, but when the answer was read out it was "the Finch family". But finches and buntings are different families; Fringillidae and Emberizidae. Quite closely related admittedly, but definitely different families. But the answer on the card said finch and rules is rules, so I did not get the point, but everyone else in the pub had seemingly put finch and was awarded the point.

Yellowhammers are still a common resident breeding bird in Britain with c700,000 pairs but they are red listed because this represents a population decline of more than 50%. I photographed this singing male in North Yorkshire.
