Iguana approaching

Green Iguanas are common throughout Central America and the Caribbean, but exploitation for food and the pet trade has made them quite wary of humans. This individual was over 1.5m including the tail and was sitting quietly along a tree branch about 3m off the ground. When I spotted him it made him nervous, and he then climbed right up into the canopy where he was barely visible. But to do this he had to crawl towards me (and the tree trunk) so he could climb higher. I only had a second of uninterrupted view so this was the only reasonable shot I managed. But I liked it because he was actually moving (they spend a lot of time sitting still!) and because he was moving towards me (they usually move in the opposite direction). I photographed him by the Sierpe River while waiting for the boat to take us to Corcovado National Park in Costa Rica.
