Baby Arctic Ground Squirrels
Arctic Ground Squirrels (Urocitellus parryii) occur on tundra across Siberia and North America. They are also a favourite prey item for various predators such as bears, foxes, owls and eagles. This makes them exceedingly skittish, darting back down their burrows at the first sign of danger. This family had taken up residence in Anadyr harbour where they had become habituated to humans, and where few predators would be likely to get them.
