Last of the Summer Wine

The title will probably not mean anything to anybody outside the UK but it was the name of Britain's longest running sitcom that was filmed in this area. It was first broadcast in 1973 and the last episode was in 2010 and revolved around the exploits of a group of retired friends. Part of its appeal was the beautiful scenery of the South Pennines near the village of Holmfirth. This photograph was taken back in August near Digley Reservoir, which was a regular filming location. The hill in the background is Black Hill, which is 582m above sea level. This entire area lies within the Peak District National Park.
