Mad Love, voted First Place in the Eurobricks Comic Cover Contest, November 2012

----------------------

I would first like to blame Oky for this little beauty. I say blame because it was his words about the great Mad Love comic cover on Eurobricks that convinced me to give it a second thought. Originally, I was going to make The Dark Knight Returns my entry into the Eurobricks Comic Cover Contest—but it didn’t turn out too interesting. I had passed on Mad Love in the beginning since it seemed too hard, and boy was I right! Anyways, thanks Oky for inadvertently convincing me to make this.

Mad Love is by far one of my favorite Batman comics (And it’s really one of the best). Now for my entry everything seemed to be keeping me back. First, I being convinced in the beginning that I’d do Returns so I left my copy of Mad Love (With the giant picture of this cover!) in my dorm while I returned home for the holidays. Crap. Second, being home meant being with all my Legos and therefore searching through buckets for pieces. That one dam tube around Harley’s eye…I searched and searched forever for a matching second one—never found it. But actually these hold backs improved my model since it forced me to improvise with other pieces. In addition I really like this creation since it just seems like a lot—compared to boring covers/creations that are just minifigures.

Personally, I love this! The form on Harley is perfect, and I her gun turned out great. The only thing I don’t like too much is the scale of the Joker, who would perhaps look better if he were bigger—but eh, purple is rare. Anyways, enjoy—and vote! ;)
