regarding an angel regarding you (after Elizabeth Hudson)
Thanks to Elizabeth Hudson (and the mother of this child) for letting me post this edit of her compelling photograph. I find the child in the original photograph to be curiously confrontational and emotionally complex. That is, I find myself made more conscious of the child's personhood as opposed to being simply (presented as) a "cute little angel". I don't know if my processing of the image - tilting it perhaps in a more nostalgic / gritty direction - contributes positively or negatively to the existential punctum* of the orignal.
* Thinking of Roland Barthes' very interesting take on the way photographs function in his book "Camera Lucida".

A rather curious coincidence: a couple days after I had started processing this image - unbeknownst to the photographer Elizabeth Hudson - she set up a gallery of my work on her site . Thanks Elizabeth!
