Group Exhibition: Modern Love
"Lasse Juuti works in a large scale, pondering the possibilities of painting, as well as its relationship with the space and body. Through play and intuition, Juuti’s work is buildt into more precise observations. Juuti approaches his subjects by combining painting, collage, and three-dimensional assemblages, that are refined into ever new poetic images by alienating the familiar and ordinary. The paintings, sculptures and hybrids of thereof are built from a variety of themes and subjects, relying on colours, materials and their encounters. By taking a stand on the built space, the artist’s works create a uniform narrative across different surfaces.
Lasse Juuti (b. 1990, Tampere) has studied at the Academy of Fine Arts, Helsinki, and at the Tampere University of Applied Sciences. He has held solo exhibitions e.g. at HAM Gallery, Monitoimitila O, Titanik gallery, and the Academy of Fine Arts Helsinki’s Project Room gallery. His work is represented in the collections of Kiasma and HAM Helsinki Art Museum."
"Tuuli Kerätär explores in her work the act of painting itself. For her, painting is a way of deciphering and organizing the fragmented information that surrounds us. Kerätär trusts in the intuitive act itself – memories or feelings of places and moments arise in the process. A strong, inherent sense of space is in the core of Kerätär’s work. Through the architectonic elements and energetic, vivid colours, her paintings exist at the same time very much in the present while also creating a timeless feel, escaping of tight definitions.
Tuuli Kerätär (b. 1985, Turku) graduated Master of Fine Arts from the Academy of Fine Arts Helsinki in 2019. She has exhibited in solo exhibitions e.g. at the Project Room gallery in Helsinki, and Gumbostrand Konst & Form in Sipoo, and in group shows in Helsinki, Rovaniemi and Antwerp. Her works can be found in the collections of the Academy of Fine Arts Helsinki, Rovaniemi Art Museum, and Oulu University Hospital."
