The 1850s are shaken awake by the arrivals of our gazes upon the limestone blocks of houses erected that decade.

Shaken awake and made to sing for our amusement!

 

Verily these are 310 & 314 Gaines Street in Davenport, Iowa. It says here that the five bays at the right are from 1853; the middle three bays are from 1856; and the right four bays are from either 1859 or 1867.

In downtown Davenport, Iowa, on May 20th, 2023, the John Hiller House, a/k/a the HIller Building and the Schick Apartments, on the east side of Gaines Street, north of West 3rd Street; 74000810 on the National Register of Historic Places, also a a "contributing property" in the West Third Street Historic District, 83003741 on the National Register of Historic Places.
